Day 2 : To Kufri and the Institute of Advance Studies..
The day started with the weather all clear.. no sign of rain after the overnight thunderstorm.. Also signs of Hails in the night could be seen.. but that meant there could have been snowfall up on the higher mountains..
I walked out at 6.45am for a stroll around the hotel ..
I was shivering but braving the cold in search of the birds.. The first bird of the morning and many more times was the Grey Bushchat..
We had taken the Breakfast + dinner plan in the hotel, which meant we had a very good breakfast before we leave..
Through the wifes eye..
The lobby was a super place to relax till our driver got ready..
It was also a place for business propositions for some..
and for the beautiful little flowers..
Finally at 9am we started our journey for Kufri.. We stopped at some point where the views were good.. the road was excellent till this point and ahead..
It was 5 degrees and the chill went through my spine as I climb out of the car.. with nothing else, had to tie the kerchief around the nose/ears for extra protection against cold and it did work fine..
From the parking lot of Kufri, one has to take a horse up the mountain... there are 2 tours, one is a 250 bucks tour which leaves you near the Mahasu peak and then you roam around for the time you want.. and the other is a 380 bucks trip which will take you to some more places.. We chose the 250 bucks tour still spent nearly 2 hours there..
The roads are horrible because of the incessant rains of yesterday.. I was glad we took a horse..
Oh and on top, there are Yaks for posing they charge 30Rs for the photos taken from your own camera..
After the quick posing stop, we walked along the well laiden rock path..
the Grey bushchat again..
May be the same.. but looked a bit bigger..
There is a whole lot of entertainment on top.. no wonder some people dont like the place..
There is a temple..
There are adventure activities..
There is snow.. and..
There is an amusement park as well
The Shiva temple..
And Yes the SNOW !!!
It was the first time for me, and was I super excited to see whatever dirty snow was left I even played in that
I got fooled into one of the adventure activites of FREE fall of 100feet
The drop must have been hardly 10feet of free fall, wish it was really 100feet, it would be been 10times awesome
Walk on the bridge .. without falling..
Sit down on the other side..
Slide yourself down.. and hang on the bridge..
and then let go...
It was hardly a 2 seconds drop, was not at all worth the 250 bucks spent.. but ok..
The pines/deodhar trees..
We came back to the Shiva temple, before riding down to the parking lot..
on the way back to the parking lot..
